About Pixel Serpent
Pixel Serpent is a lovingly polished take on the snake genre that ruled 1990s monochrome phones and 1970s arcades alike. Guide a glowing serpent around the grid, eat the fruit to grow longer, and avoid the walls, obstacles and your own tail. Speed ramps up as you eat, golden fruit appears for a limited time, and three visual themes let you pick your mood: CRT Green, Neon Night, or Game Pocket.
Arcade Classic Difficulty: Easy Mobile friendly Est. 1976
How to Play
- Steer the serpent with the arrow keys or by swiping on the screen.
- Eat fruit to grow by one segment and score points. Every 5 fruit the speed increases.
- Golden fruit is worth 5ร but disappears after a few seconds.
- Crashing into the wall, an obstacle or your own body ends the game.
- Toggle obstacles and wall-wrapping from the title screen for a different challenge.
Controls

- P or Esc โ pause
- Enter โ start
๐ฑ Touch

- Or use the on-screen D-pad
Tips & Strategies
- Hug the perimeter and sweep inward in rows. A tidy pattern leaves you more room later.
- Inputs are buffered: a quick double swipe (e.g. up then left) will execute both turns in order.
- Golden fruit is only worth chasing if the path is clear. A 5ร bonus never beats a crash.
- At high speed, think two turns ahead. Your tail follows the exact path your head took.

DID YOU KNOW?The snake genre predates home computers: the original 1976 arcade version was a two-player 'blocking' game.
